Motilal Verma (1906–1993) was an Indian political figure who fought against the British Colonialism in India.[1]

Personal life

Motilal Verma was born into a wealthy family in 1906 in the Katni District of Madhya Pradesh.[1]

In 1930, the Jungle Satyagraha protests started by Mahatma Gandhi, he protested against the Great British forces. He was arrested for 6 months as punishment by the British Raj. His familial properties were confiscated. [1]

In 1942, he protested as part of the Quit India Movement, in which he was arrested again, spending 8 months in prison as punishment.[1]

He was associated with revolutionary leaders, including Chandra Shekhar Azad, and was known for his austere principles and sacrifice for India’s independence.

Motilal Verma died in 1993 in Katni District.

Legacy

Motilal Verma wrote various books on Indian Revolutionaries such as Rajguru, Batukeshwar Dutt, Jagrani Devi (mother of Chandra Shekhar Azad), etc.[2][3][4]

His grandson, Shri Anil Verma, was a writer on Indian revolutionaries, inspired by Shri Motilal Verma.
