Asetek A/S is a Danish manufacturer specializing in liquid cooling solutions for personal computers and high-performance systems, as well as SimSports racing simulation equipment. Founded in 1997 by André Sloth Eriksen, the company is headquartered in Svenstrup J near Aalborg, Denmark. Asetek’s technologies are used in enthusiast PCs, gaming systems, and professional eSports and sim racing setups.[1]

History

Asetek was founded in 1997 by André Eriksen and incorporated in 2000.[2] Its first breakthrough product, the VapoChill, addressed processor overheating by enabling sub-zero CPU temperatures, pioneering performance capabilities in the gaming and enthusiast market.[3] Building on this success, Asetek developed sealed-loop (AIO) liquid cooling, bringing advanced thermal solutions to OEM systems and custom PC builds.[4]

From 2007 to 2018, Asetek’s technology was adopted by major brands: HP’s Blackbird Gaming PC in 2007, later Acer’s Predator series and Dell-Alienware systems. Other well-known OEMs such as Intel, AMD, Corsair, and NZXT also used Asetek designs.[5] In 2013, Asetek went public on the Oslo Stock Exchange, strengthening its position in the industry.[6]

During the same period, Asetek’s Direct-to-Chip (D2C) liquid cooling solutions were installed in supercomputers. By November 2018, thirteen systems on the TOP500 list used the technology, including three of the twenty fastest systems in Taiwan and Japan.[7]

In 2021, the company launched its SimSports division, entering the sim racing hardware market with products designed to replicate real-world motorsport driving dynamics.[8]

Products and technology

Asetek’s current product portfolio includes:

  • PC liquid cooling systems – Closed-loop liquid coolers for gaming PCs, workstations, and other high-performance computing applications.
  • SimSports racing simulation equipment – Pedals, wheelbases, and steering systems designed for sim racing enthusiasts and professional eSports drivers.

The company’s cooling technology integrates pumps, cold plates, and heat exchangers into compact units, allowing efficient heat transfer while minimizing maintenance.[9]
